Yuanda has been onsite with the project team at Harbour Central since Q1 of 2017 when cladding installation began on the seven buildings that form the development. The sheer scale of this project is mesmerising. All seven buildings were constructed simultaneously, and the final facade elements are being installed now.
The total facade surface is around 63,000m2, with over 1700 containers of material being delivered and installed. Yuanda has produced facade elements from a combination of materials from GRC and terracotta panels to high-performance glazing elements that contrast beautifully to meet the aesthetic aspirations from architects Rolfe Judd Architecture.
The Harbour Central development in Docklands will result in over 640 private apartments. There are a total of 6 residential buildings and a leisure complex for the tenants. There are four high rise residential buildings, two low rise residential apartments and a six-storey leisure centre. Inside here are a proposed library, concierge, gym, spa, cinema and business suites.
The suites on offer range from studio apartments to a total of 8 penthouse apartments. Harbour Central is poised to create an exceptionally high-quality living environment within a short stroll from Canary Wharf on the Isle of Dogs.
The design approach from Rolf Judd was to consider the neighbouring communities and provide large open spaces throughout the development. The creation of a public square in the centre and residential garden offers a communal space for families and the local community.
Residents of Harbour Central are a stroll across the river from Canary Wharf. Canary wharf was created from the derelict Docklands of London and was converted into over 97 acres of real estate. It now serves as the financial headquarters of London. Within Canary Wharf you’ll find the global offices of many multinational corporations alongside fine dining, shopping, bars and parks.
Yuanda has started the installation of the last unitised panels, on the hoist area of tallest tower, that will set the completion of installation works by end of 2019.
Once complete Harbour central will stand out as a reference project in the Yuanda portfolio, and we look forward to sharing the completed project photos with you soon.
